For nearly 500 years, Pencarrow has been the much-loved home of the Molesworth-St Aubyns, ever since John Molesworth arrived from Northamptonshire to become the Auditor for the Duchy of Cornwall and Queen Elizabeth I. The Gardens at Pencarrow were designed and laid out by the Radical politician, Sir William Molesworth, between 1831 and 1855 and contain more than 160 different species of specimen conifers, more than 700 different Rhododendron hybrids, and more than 60 different Camellias. Guided tours are available on a daily basis around the house. The gardens are also open on a daily basis for walking, exploring and picnicking. www.pencarrow.co.uk 01208 841 369
